On July 10, 2009, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin became the second governor in these States United (Governor Phil Bredesen of Tennessee is the other one) to sign into effect a State Sovereignty Resolution. These Sovereignty-type bills, resolutions and laws are an obvious and rightful response that the super-majority of the States in the Union are expressing to and against the usurping powers of the federal government. While the effects of federal tyranny are being felt more seriously than ever, history and human nature prove that the people of a society do not respond or revolt immediately against tyranny–though they have a right to.
The Tenth Amendment of the Bill of Rights reads: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” This means that the federal government does not have any more power or jurisdiction than that mentioned in the Constitution. All other powers remain in the hands of the people and the states. Currently, our federal government is in direct violation of their constitutional authority. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the supreme rule of law of this country, and our leaders need to be reminded this. The violations include, but are not limited to: Freedom of speech Right to jury trial Right to be innocent until proven guilty Right to bear arms Posse Comitatus Habeas Corpus Illegal search and seizure of private property Illegal wars without a Congressional declaration Illegal bailouts of selected corporations Illegal takeovers of selected corporations Illegal wiretapping of American Citizens Taxation without representation Allowing a fiat currency and defrauding the public [...]
