There’s been a lot of words like socialism, facism, and communism used to describe Obamacare and many say that is an unfair description. Rather than argue about whose interpretation is valid, let’s ask an expert. What we need is a leader who has years of experience with government-run health care; who has experience micro-managing economies; and who know’s how to waste and spend large amounts of money. Where could we find….wait a minute, our friendly neighbor Fidel Castro just recently praised Obama’s health care reform as Paul Haven of the AP reports and if anyone knows health care it’s Fidel. Director Michael Moore even featured Cuba’s high tech health care industry in one of his very balanced and unbiased movies (if you consider a raging statist who hates anyone with money other than himself unbiased.) Paul Haven of the AP reports that, Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform “a miracle” and a major victory for Obama’s presidency, but couldn’t help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago. “We consider health reform to have been an important battle and a success of his (Obama’s) [...]

Thanks to an excellent source of campaign finance data, OpenSecrets.org, I would like to show that Rep. Diana Degette’s sponsored legislation shows a strong tendency toward health care related bills. Maybe its a coincidence that her major campaign contributors are from the health care industry. Rep Degette, this is a disgraceful approach to politics. It shows that you favor your contributors over your own constituents. I feel bad for the people you represent in your district. They must have a hard time getting you to recognize other important issues; like the collapsing of our financial markets, or the 10 percent unemployment rate. Nah, those things shouldn’t bother you. As long as big pharma and big health care can push out all competition and feed your campaign you will be satisfied, right? I heard that you block people outside your district from contacting you from your site. Are you not a pubic servant representing Colorado? How dare you keep people from expressing their concerns. I hope the people of your district wake up for the 2010 election. Make sure you tell them you represent big pharma and big health care, not the people.

The honorable (Ha) Moonbat Polis blessed his constituents with a lengthy piece of gibberish regarding the little o-care fiasco. I could not ignore it completely. Lets hope this dunce is amongst many forcibly retired in 2010. Your email message regarding health care of today’s date is utter gibberish. Congress can not spend what the country does not have never mind the “wisdom” of inserting the federal government into a controlling role into yet something else for it to turn to trash. The litany of federal “accomplishments” is many: the postal service, Amtrak, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, welfare and on and on. If the government could achieve mere incompetence it would be a major improvement. If this ultimate boondoggle is so good why is congress exempting itself from it? You are literally bringing about the collapse of the United States yet you blissfully proceed as if it will all work out somehow someday. This story does not begin “once upon a time” and it most certainly does not end “happily ever after.” You and your colleagues of both parties will be held to account for your crushing incompetence and corruption at some point. Perhaps when we’re all contemplating the smoldering ashes [...]

It’s true that the US health-care system is a mess, but this demonstrates not market but government failure. To cure the problem requires not different or more government regulations and bureaucracies, as self-serving politicians want us to believe, but the elimination of all existing government controls. It’s time to get serious about health-care reform. Tax credits, vouchers, and privatization will go a long way toward decentralizing the system and removing unnecessary burdens from business. But four additional steps must also be taken: … More (Author: Hans-Hermann Hoppe Source: Mises.org Date: 08.14.2009)

The devil is definitely in the details! This plan is the typical statist scheme. The summary goals seem reasonable but the means of accomplishing those ends opens a pathway to total government control. See below: Page 17 (3) RESTRICTIONS ON PREMIUM INCREASES.— The issuer cannot vary the percentage increase in the premium for a risk group of enrollees in specific grandfathered health insurance coverage without changing the premium for all enrollees in the same risk group at the same rate, as specified by the Commissioner. (Who defines the “risk group”?) Page 17: (A) IN GENERAL.—The Commissioner shall establish a grace period whereby, for plan years beginning after the end of the 5-year period beginning with Y1, an employment-based health plan in operation as of the day before the first day of Y1 must meet the same requirements as apply to a qualified health benefits plan under section 101, including the essential benefit package requirement under section 121. And on Page 18: (iii) Such other limited benefits as the Commissioner may specify. In no case shall an employment-based health plan in which the coverage consists only of one or more of the coverage or benefits described in clauses (i) through (iii) [...]

The last thing this country needs is more government interference, but lately that is all Congress and the President keep trying to force upon all of us. Obama Care is yet another scam dreamed up by fascist collectivists to gain further control of people’s health decisions. The last thing anyone should trust to the government is your health. Most people that are in favor of legislation for government interference in health care have never looked at the horror stories of Canada and parts of Europe where people can not get the services they need because the wait it too long. In some cases they are denied completely. Many often travel to America because they can get the treatment they need here without the wait. All that will change should any legislation be allowed to pass. All of us will have less options. All of us will pay higher overall prices. And we can all expect shortages of certain types of health services. Government interference always leads to shortages, because they can never be as efficient as the free market. If people truly want to bring down health care costs, they need to demand that the government get out all together. [...]
