The Congressman from Colorado District 7 who swore to uphold the Constitution before he took office, violated the rule of law again by supporting the recent health care reform bill (otherwise known as Obamacare). This statement was released from his office on March 21st 2010: Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07), voted in favor of comprehensive health insurance reform. Below is a statement from Congressman Perlmutter: “I am proud to cast this historic vote. For too long, people with preexisting conditions, like my daughter Alexis, were denied coverage or discriminated against by being priced out of the insurance market. It is unconstitutional, immoral and today we said enough and put an end to this practice. Too much is at stake for thousands of people, families and small businesses in the 7th CD, and we took the necessary first steps to making quality, reasonably priced health care accessible to more people for less cost. There is still work to be done, and I am committed to continuing this work. But ‘No’ is not an option. The status quo is not the answer. At Government in the Grocery and throughout our neighborhoods in my district, I’ve heard from thousands of my constituents [...]

When it comes to the bills he supports, I would say everything. This congressman to me seems very out of touch with his district’s constituents. I get the feeling he is working for his lobbyists instead of the people. He has been in favor of all the bank bailouts and wasteful spending sprees over the last year. He also favors just about every bill that increases the size of government and taxes Americans and their businesses increasingly more. He is an advocate for Cap and Trade, a tax on carbon emissions. He is under the impression that carbon is the root cause of global warming. Carbon is something all humans and other animals exhale. Yet, Perlmutter thinks the government has the right to tax business that produce it. This is insanity. This will have serious consequences on all business and drive prices increasing upward. Something that will be a burden an already slumping economy. Perlmutter, even without fully understanding how global warming works is in favor of this dangerous bill that will do nothing to curb emissions or effect the environment, but will do everything to hurt consumers.
