The term “neocon” is thrown around quite a bit. But what does it mean? What makes someone a necon?
Neocons are NOT conservatives- let’s make that clear. They have no beliefs that can be reconciled with traditional or “paleo” conservatives. They are statists and their only ideology is one of ‘consensus’ building to further their power. John McCain is a CLASSIC Neocon.
They believe the following:
1. Neocons believe in American Exceptionalism and International Empire. They always support a state of perpetual war whether it be the war on Iraq or Iran, or communism, or drugs, or inflation, or terror, or whatever.
2. Neocons believe in Central Planning of the Economy via the control of capital markets (the Federal Reserve system).
3.Neocons believe in Corporatist/Fascist Economics (that is to say economics whereby success is achieved by securing subsidies from government rather than producing something people want. Examples include Wall Street bankers and the military industrial complex.
4.Neocons believe in Social Engineering- Nationalism to be taught in schools. The Welfare State is to be promoted and expanded (especially farm welfare and corporate welfare). Honoring the troops is heralded. Open borders is supported. Respecting authority and law and order are the highest neocon ethics.
5. Neocons believe in a Pro Police State and are pro surveillance. Neoons will often say, “if you aren’t doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about.” They cannot grasp the idea that privacy IS a right of free people. They cannot accept the idea of law-abiding citizens being left alone.
6. Neocons do not believe in private property. They are pro eminent domain. They will gladly condemn and confiscate your property and hand it over to a crony shopping mall developer.
7. Neocons do not view capitalism as a moral ideology. They view capitalism a means to achieve a collective end- namely, maintaining power and achieving their social engineering goals. They could care less about a free man’s right to engage in voluntary trade. They care not one whit about individual rights.
Neocons are a dangerous lot. They are neophyte fascists. They are statists to the core and want only to control you and use you as a means to achieve their collectivist ends, namely: a nation of flag-wrapped sheeple, dutifully handing over their wealth to their banker-crony buddies, voting them back in to power, and happily willing to get their legs blown off in a war against Iranians.
In recent decades they have formed a coalition with “Theo-cons” which are another loathesome, pro-statist ideological group.
The ironic thing is that Neocons have a great deal in common with “Progressive Liberals”. They are both statists. They are both central planners. They are both social engineers. They both support a police state. But neocons are uglier than Progressives because they are pulling a charade over on you.
How to spot one:
Necons will often use the following phrases:
1. This is America. Love it or leave it!
To which paleocons and libertarians often respond,” This is my property. Leave it or risk getting your head blown off!”
2.I am not idealistic- I am pragmatic.
To which a paleocon or libertarian should respond, “Comprising principles is a justificastion used for manipulating and defrauding people.”
3.The world is a dark and evil place!
To which a paleocon or libertarian would respond, “All the more reason to not intervene in the affairs of other nations.”
4. They (the Chinese, Muslims, Communists, et al) are coming to get us!
To which a paleocon or libertarian would respond, “Let them try. Thanks to the 2nd amendment, we have more guns in the hands of private citizens than the rest of the world put together.”
5. The Constitution is just a god damn piece of paper!
That one tells it all!
We have endured a gerneration of these statists masquerading as conservatives. We know what they are, now. They are easily exposed by their quickness to ditch their phony small government positions. It is time to ditch them.
Perhaps McCain was the last great Neocon. It is comical to watch him flip flop on bailout issues (back to that no principles thing) while true conservatives take the real leadership roles in the GOP. Good riddance to him and his moronic-socialist-appeaser daughter and that awful theocon socialist Mike Huckabee.
The future is bright for the GOP if they can get back to their principles: Limited government, non-interventionism, respect for liberty.
